Collaborative Efforts in Nakuru County's Health Sector Planning: A Step Towards a Brighter Future

Written by Shillah Raymond | March 22, 2024

This week has been nothing short of eventful for our dedicated team in Kenya. Among the highlights was an inspiring collaboration that took place in Nakuru County, a significant stride towards enhancing healthcare delivery in the region.

At the heart of this busy week was our Procurement Expert Bismack Wasta. Bismack had the unique opportunity to collaborate closely with Nakuru County's dedicated officials during their Annual Work Plan workshop. This pivotal event was centered on drafting an intricate blueprint for the critical activities scheduled for the fiscal year 2024/2025.

The workshop's primary objective was to scrutinize the prevalent health challenges within the county, establish strategic priorities, and devise concrete, actionable solutions. This task, though daunting, was approached with unmatched zeal and a collective resolve to effect meaningful change.

Under the banner of this initiative, teams from various sub-counties of Nakuru came together in a series of vibrant discussions. The result was the creation of bespoke healthcare facility plans, meticulously tailored to meet the distinct needs of their respective communities. This approach not only ensures the relevance of the strategies developed but also fosters a sense of ownership among local stakeholders.

The workshop further explains the importance of data-driven decision-making, ensuring that each plan is grounded in reality and geared towards addressing the most pressing health concerns.

A special gratitude is due to Roselyn Mungai, the County Executive Committee Member for Health, whose visionary leadership has been a beacon of inspiration throughout this process. Roselyn has been instrumental in aligning the healthcare sector's objectives with those of the Governor’s office, ensuring a harmonious approach to resource allocation and service delivery.

This week also highlighted the invaluable support from our development partners, including inSupply Health, USAID Tujenge Jamii, Jhpiego, Nutrition International, and many others. Their unwavering commitment and collaborative spirit have been crucial in co-creating a plan that is not only sustainable but also impactful.

The efforts and achievements of the past week are a testament to what can be accomplished when different entities come together with a shared vision for a healthier future. The Annual Work Plan for Nakuru County is not just a document; it's a promise to the community—a pledge to improve health outcomes and enhance the quality of life for all residents.

As we celebrate the progress made, we also recognize that the journey ahead is long and filled with challenges. Yet, with the continued dedication of our team, the leadership in Nakuru County, and the support of our partners, we are more equipped than ever to forge ahead.

Let's keep the momentum going. Together, we are paving the way for a healthier, brighter future in Nakuru County.
